WELIGHT and Huasheng Composites Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement to Jointly Advance an Independent Path for Intelligent Manufacturing of All-Carbon-Fiber Launch Vehicles

Recently, Beijing WELIGHT Technology Co., Ltd. ("WELIGHT") and Xi'an Huasheng Composite Materials Technology Co., Ltd. ("Huasheng Composites") formally signed the Strategic Cooperation Agreement on Intelligent Manufacturing Technology and Equipment for All-Carbon-Fiber Launch Vehicles in Xi'an. This strategic partnership represents a key collaboration between the development of China's first all-carbon-fiber commercial launch vehicle and the high-end composite materials equipment sector, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of China's commercial space industry.

Launch Vehicle Development Meets Composite Manufacturing Equipment

Building Core Industrial Competitiveness

As a commercial space company in China specializing in the development of all-carbon-fiber composite launch vehicles, WELIGHT follows a core technology roadmap centered on "reshaping the boundaries of aerospace manufacturing through materials innovation." Its flagship product, the WELIGHT-1 Rocket, has achieved a number of key technological breakthroughs in areas including all-carbon-fiber common-bulkhead tanks and lightweight airframe structures, while steadily advancing the engineering development of reusable launch vehicles. For all-carbon-fiber launch vehicles, achieving precision fiber placement on large and complex curved structures, efficient path planning, stable layup quality control, and automated and intelligent mass production remains a critical engineering challenge that must be overcome before large-scale industrial application can be realized.

Huasheng Composites is a company dedicated to the industrialization of Xi'an Jiaotong University's automated composite forming technologies. With more than 20 years of experience in automated composite placement equipment, the company has independently developed automated fiber placement machines, automated tape-laying machines, and 3D printing equipment, achieving independent control of key core technologies. It is one of China's leading representatives in the domestic development and substitution of composite manufacturing equipment for the aviation and aerospace industries.

Prior to the signing, the two parties had already begun joint technical development. Using Huasheng Composites' automated fiber placement equipment, they successfully completed the fiber-placement path-planning process test for the all-carbon-fiber tank, overcoming key technical challenges including high-precision placement on complex curved surfaces and linerless carbon-fiber structural forming. This effort established a complete technology chain spanning independently developed high-end equipment and the engineering manufacture of critical aerospace components.

Following the implementation of this partnership, the two parties will deepen cooperation in three major areas: manufacturing process optimization for the core structural components of China's first all-carbon-fiber launch vehicle, joint development of automated production lines, and collaborative R&D integrating new materials, new equipment, and new launch vehicles. The partnership will accelerate the commercial development of the WELIGHT-1 Rocket while strengthening its competitive advantages in lightweight design, lower costs, and high reliability. It will also establish a fully independent and controllable technological pathway for composite structural manufacturing within China's commercial space industry, promoting closer integration between advanced manufacturing and the commercial space industrial chain and providing important domestic technological support for the industry's transition toward lighter, lower-cost, and reusable launch systems.

From a Glimmer of Light to the Stars Beyond

From materials innovation to independently developed equipment, and from technological breakthroughs to industrial implementation, WELIGHT has always adhered to its core philosophy of "technology innovation at the core, driven by commercial value." Looking ahead, WELIGHT will continue working closely with Huasheng Composites to advance intelligent manufacturing technologies for all-carbon-fiber launch vehicles, continually push the boundaries of aerospace manufacturing, empower the high-quality development of China's commercial space industry, and journey toward an even broader sea of stars.
